During this election season, PetSmart Charities is urging Facebook users to take a break from politics and focus on “pawlitics.”

PetSmart Charities is pushing pet adoption, offering a United for Adopted Pets badge via its Facebook page as well as conducting an online poll in which users choose between dogs and cats, the results of which will be unveiled Oct. 25.

The company said its latest “water dish” poll found that:

  • 41 percent of pet lovers prefer dogs, while 21 percent chose cats, and 38 percent said they love both.
