Facebook announced late Wednesday that its real-time updates application-programming interface for developers now includes page posts, meaning that developers will automatically receive notifications every time changes occur on their pages.

A Facebook spokesperson described the new feature as follows:

For example, if a user likes or comments on a post from a page, the developer will receive a notification letting them know. Up until today, developers were continuously pulling the latest information about a page down to their own servers and looking for changes on their end.
