OpenTable co-founder Glenn Allen has teamed up with former Zynga mobile designer Alan Wells to launch Glyder, a CRM tool for iPhone that allows small business owners to communicate with customers on multiple platforms.
Glyder is backed by 500 Startups. It integrates with Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, email, text, MailChimp and iOS Passbook and supplies design templates for content.
“Very small businesses still struggle with the complexity of online marketing – they have to reach their customers on multiple platforms and are underserved by existing web-based tools. They don’t have the time required to figure out all the platforms or the money to hire an employee or consultant,” Allen said in a statement.
Businesses with five or fewer employees represent the app’s target market. Owners of such businesses are spread too thin to set aside time to do marketing and must do it on the go, Glyder has concluded.
The app emerged from a private beta today, and is available in the App Store. Glyder operates on a “fremium” model: The app is free but features premium templates and additional distribution options for $0.99 each.
