NY Police Dept. Creates Facebook Watch Unit

The New York City Police Department has organized a new unit to track those who brag about their crimes on Facebook.

The New York City Police Department has organized a new unit to track those who announce plans or brag about their crimes on social networks.

According to the New York Daily News, this new juvenile justice unit will be headed by assistant commissioner Kevin O’Connor, one of the department’s online and gang gurus. O’Connor and his staff will monitor the sites for info about troublesome house parties, gang showdowns and other potential mayhem.

O’Connor is a 23-year veteran known for online policing that included stings to catch predators looking for sex with underage victims.
