Facebook users in the Netherlands will no longer see ads promoting online gambling following the social network’s agreement to comply with a request by the country’s government.

Casino Scam Report reported that the Dutch Betting and Gaming Act does not allow online gambling licenses in the country, nor does it allow media sites to promote “illegal” gambling.

However, the online gambling market in the Netherlands will be opened up to competition in 2015, according to Casino Scam Report, with stringent requirements, including:

  • A proposed tax of 20 percent on gambling.
