Writer and artist Austin Kleon built an dedicated audience online for his Newspaper Blackout work–scribbling on the printed page to unearth the poetry embedded inside the page.

The blog has also inspired a book and countless submissions from other readers. In the video embedded above, Kleon showed how he makes blackout poems on his iPad.
