Sports media company theScore has announced the release of its dedicated mobile app for eSports. Appropriately titled theScore eSports, the Android app gives eSports fans an outlet for following breaking news stories and live-scoring coverage from League of Legends events, as well as receive news coverage on other popular multiplayer titles, including DOTA 2, Counter-Strike, Call of Duty, StarCraft II and Hearthstone.
While the overall app will provide news on multiple titles, League of Legends fans specifically can subscribe to alerts and notifications relating to the beginning and/or ending of competitive matches and games in the Korean, North American, European and Chinese leagues. Fans can also use the app to learn more about the competitors via team and player profiles.
In a statement, John Levy, founder and CEO of theScore, commented on the app’s release:
The many millions of eSports fans worldwide deserve a first-class, professionally supported mobile app, and that’s exactly what theScore eSports gives them. In our view, eSports should be treated as a fully-fledged sport and theScore eSports mirrors the same dedicated mobile-first approach we’ve taken with our flagship mobile sports platform ‘theScore’ by combining the core foundations that run through our company – a best-in-class development team working in tandem with an industry-leading mobile newsroom.
theScore eSports is available to download for free on Google Play. The app is coming soon to iOS.
