The city of Newark, N.J., will create an early childhood policy board using a $250,000 matching grant tied to the $100 million Facebook Co-Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg donated to the city’s school system.

The Star-Ledger reported that the board will be made up of city officials, foundation leaders, child advocates, and business people, and Newark Mayor Cory Booker said the group will create “measurable, focused goals.”

According to The Star-Ledger, the Foundation for Newark’s Future, which oversees the grant from Zuckerberg and is tasked with raising matching funds, has raised about $54 million to date.

Advocates for Children of New Jersey Executive Director Cecilia Zalkind told the newspaper she was “surprised” and “excited” by the announcement, adding that the creation of a policy board “is a good first step.”
