New Media Index: Bloggers Focus on Facebook, While Twitterverse Picks Apple

Facebook and the debate over the social-networking site’s privacy settings dominated the list of news links shared by bloggers, while Apple was the apple of Tweeters’ eye, and the most-watched news and politics video on YouTube was a one-minute video by Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer that used a puppet to ridicule people who have not read the state’s controversial immigration law, according to the Pew Research Center’s Project for Excellence in Journalism’s New Media Index for the week of May 24-28.

Privacy (or lack thereof) on Facebook accounted for 37 percent of links shared by bloggers, and it was followed by: a British scientist who claimed to be the first person infected with a computer virus, after inserting a chip into his hand and passing the virus onto computer-controlled machines, such as security doors, at 17 percent; a story in The Washington Post by Dana Milbank poking fun at the rollout...
