New GearBox App Brings Robotics One Step Closer to Your Smartphone
GearBox may have just found a way to take your smartphone to the next level. The smart toy company’s invention lets you use your smartphone to move a special ball — opening the door for future activities like smartphone golfing with real objects.
The company is launching this technology for the Android first, but also foresees an iPhone app. The robotic ball is not yet fast enough to be useful for games, but GearBox plans to increase the speed of the ball and also improve the accuracy of the smartphone app as a controller; they expect the product will be ready for mass consumption in another 18 months or so.
