NBC Orlando Affiliate WESH-TV Scores with Casey Anthony Trial iPhone App
Following the Casey Anthony murder trial? NBC affiliate WESH-TV in Orlando, Fla., has got an app for that.
In fact, the case of Anthony — accused of killing two-year-old daughter Caylee in 2008 — has been the subject of so much media coverage that the 99-cent iPhone app sits at No. 2 on the App Store’s rankings of paid apps, Nieman Journalism Lab reported.
The app debuted in April, according to NJL, and it provides access to live blogs about the court proceedings, breaking news updates, court documents, photos, video recaps, courtroom footage, and related stories produced by WESH.
Surprisingly, WESH does not appear in the branding for the app, which is listed under parent company Hearst Television, NJL reported, adding that the TV station also offers a live stream from the courtroom on its website, a live blog, a collection of curated #CaseyAnthony tweets, and a Casey Updates Facebook page.
