Former Facebook Rival MySpace Touts Growth

MySpaceRelaunchLogoLook out, Facebook: Here comes MySpace. OK, that may be a stretch, but the former top social network announced that it has posted a 50 percent gain in audience since its relaunch in June, from 24 million at launch to 36 million.

MySpace’s focus on music is apparently paying off, as the social network said its total number of musical artists has skyrocketed by 340 percent since its relaunch, with big-name additions including Pharrell Williams, El-P and Killer Mike (aka Run The Jewels), Riff Raff, and CHARLI XCX.

MySpace also pointed to its original content offerings — such as CRWN Presented by MySpace, Live at the Log Cabin Series, and Music Video Collaborations with Artists We Like — as well as its high-production-quality live streams.

As for the future, MySpace said:

MySpace intends to build on the momentum gained during summer by continuing to expand its content offering. The company will leverage its existing relationships within the creative community and develop new partnerships with additional media companies in order to provide content creators a promotional platform for their work and audiences even greater access and a deeper experience around the content they consume.
