Msnbc.com teamed up with custom Facebook application developer ShortStack to refresh the cable news network’s website’s 10-year-old “The Week in Pictures” feature with social and interactive features.
- A slideshow of the full Week in Pictures.
- Sharable preview images.
- An archive of previous winning images.
- Promotion of other msnbc.com content, such as its Photoblog and Photos newsletter.
On the positive side, msnbc.com said the voting tab for The Week in Pictures has been viewed more than 1.5 million times since its launch, leading to tens of thousands of votes and shares. However, the comments section on the tab is filled with sentiment against voting on Facebook and votes being shared.
