For much of the last decade, the widespread use of mobile devices in the public realm has been commonplace. In fact, as of May 2013, 91-percent of Americans have a cell phone, with 56-percent owning a smartphone. Additionally 35-percent of Americans over the age of 16 own a tablet, according to a recent Pew Internet survey. While the public at large has been willing to adopt the latest technology, businesses lagged a little behind – but that has changed, and changed quickly.
Whether due to security or budget concerns, IT professionals were skeptical about using non-sanctioned mobile devices as recently as 2011. The landscape has shifted considerably in recent years, with smartphone use at work jumping from 37-percent in 2011 to 60-percent in 2012. Experts anticipate that this is just the beginning, and mobile cloud services will be even more prevalent in the coming two years. Here’s how:
