To help mobile shoppers in the upcoming holiday shopping season, Pounce has announced an app-changing update to its mobile shopping app on iOS. The Pounce app allows users to buy products seen in print media by scanning an image with their phone and completing the transaction within the app, and now includes a deals browser when print ads aren’t available.
Currently, Pounce offers support for printed ads, circulars and flyers from Macy’s, Target, Ace Hardware, Toys ‘R’ Us and Babies ‘R’ Us. Pounce is working on adding support for more stores in the future.
When Pounce users find something they’d like to purchase, they can use the app to scan the ad or flyer, and will then be given a few options. They can zoom in on images to get a better look at products, or they can choose color and size options when browsing clothing items.
Pounce also offers general ad browsing, in cases where the physical print ad isn’t available (or has already been thrown away). Each product lists the item’s sale price, as well as original price, and can be purchased within the app.
“Convenience is everything, and we wanted to build on our already easy-to-use platform and add enhancements that we know our users will appreciate,” said Pounce CEO, Avital Yachin, in a company release. “Just in time for holiday shopping, Pounce users can get the best deals on a variety of products, instantly and with confidence, all from the comfort of their home.”
