Microsoft: We Were Hacked, Too

For the third consecutive Friday afternoon, a major tech company has revealed that it was hacked. Today, it was Microsoft’s turn.
The company supplied few details about the attacks, except to say that the hackers “us[ed] techniques similar to those documented by other organizations” and that apparently no data had been affected.
“As reported by Facebook and Apple, Microsoft can confirm that we also recently experienced a similar security intrusion,” wrote Matt Thomlinson, the Redmond, Wash., company’s general manager of computing security, in a blog post.
Among the computers infected were some in Microsoft’s Mac business unit, suggesting that they were, like those at Apple and Facebook, Macs.
