Microsoft Office Finally Comes to iPad

Microsoft Office for iPad is finally here, but you’ll need a subscription for Office 365 to create or edit documents. Curious users can download the apps for Word, Powerpoint, and Excel for free, but it’s for read-only use.

The new software package comes from years of work, according to Microsoft. It’s different than desktop or iPhone versions and is a great bargain for those already invested in the cloud service. Users familiar with iPad apps may already be using Apple’s iWork, a cheaper solution for just $10.
