Viral Radar: Microsoft Reveals Their Vision Of Future Productivity

By Megan O'Neill

An amazing new video that was uploaded earlier this week to the Microsoft Office videos YouTube channel and is going viral today, reveals Microsoft’s vision of the future.  In the future, according to the video’s description, “technology will help people make better use of their time, focus their attention, and strengthen relationships while getting things done at work, home, and on the go.”

The video features just over six magical minutes of potential technologies that will make you drool (if tech is what floats your boat, at least).  They’ve pulled out all the stops, from glasses that can translate foreign language to digital hotel room keys, smart business cards, interactive video billboards, 3D computer screens and more.

Personally, while I do think a lot of the technology illustrated in the video looks totally awesome, I find the idea of so much technology a tad bit overwhelming.  We’ve already got tons of distractions, from apps on our phones to our social networks and more.  How much more can we add to the load?  But perhaps all this new technology would lead to us being so much more productive that we could manage to take more vacations away from all the madness.

Check out the video below and let us know what you think.  Can you imagine a world with so much technology surrounding us?  Do you think the future will really look something like this?
