Version 7.0 of Messenger for iOS offered few details in the “what’s new” section on the iTunes App Store, simply stating that the app was now available for the Apple tablet, and that videos shot via Messenger can now be saved to Camera Roll.
The iPad version of Messenger appears to have all of the same functionality as the iPhone version, including the ability to make free calls.
