Menlo Park Planning Commission Unanimously Approves Facebook’s West Campus Expansion

The Menlo Park Planning Commission unanimously approved Facebook’s proposed West Campus expansion, located across the Bayfront Expressway from the social network’s current headquarters, and now the next step is a return trip to the Menlo Park City Council in March.

KCBS reported that there were no public comments opposing the Frank Gehry-designed expansion project at the Planning Commission meeting Monday night, sharing the following positive feedback from residents:

In addition to the millions of dollars that will be generated through the east and west campuses’ development agreements, the fact that Facebook is here in Menlo Park is a huge public benefit for our community and San Mateo County.

We certainly believe that Menlo Park is now branded as Facebook’s home, and that’s priceless.

Facebook is and will be a significant social and economic influence to our community.

As other companies see the success that Facebook is experiencing in Menlo Park, they will want to come to San Mateo County. That will help all business sectors that are already here.

City officials raised concerns about additional traffic at two nearby intersections (Marsh and Middlefield roads, and University Avenue and Donahoe Street), KCBS reported.
