This morning our parent network mediabistro.com has got some exciting news on the online video front—they’ve just launched mediabistroTV, a new destination site for original video series catered to media professionals. The site will consist of individual landing pages for each of mediabistro.com’s original series, including three brand new series—Cubes, Elevator Pitch and 5 Things You Need To Know This Week.
Weston Almond, Director/Producer at mediabistro Productions, told me, “We’re really happy to finally have a home for mediabistro’s videos. I have a film and TV background, so for me it’s great to be able to launch an actual channel where all our shows will live. And the icing on the cake is being able to debut our latest series, Cubes, on the same day we launch mediabistroTV.”
But enough of formalities—I’m excited to tell you about all the three new original series that you can watch on mediabistroTV. In addition to the new stuff, which you can read about below, the new site will also feature Media Beat, mediabistro.com’s interview show, and How-To, tips, directions and advice from experts on various skills needed to make it in the world of media.
The first new series, which Weston mentioned, is Cubes, which you can think of as the MTV ‘Cribs’ of NY offices. Cubes takes a look inside New York’s hottest offices. The first episode, which launched earlier today, features the offices of online cool hunters Thrillist. Upcoming episodes, premiering every other Thursday at lunchtime, will feature Bloomberg, CNN, JWT, and Gawker.
5 Things You Need To Know This Week
5 Things You Need To Know This Week launched back in May and is a weekly re-cap of the most buzz-worthy news stories in the media world. The show is hosted by mbTV Producer/Director Andrew Gauthier and new episodes premiere every Tuesday at lunchtime. Catch them across mediabistro.com’s blog network, as well as on mediabistro.tv.
Elevator Pitch launches Thursday July 28 and it sounds pretty exciting, if I do say so myself. The show will be hosted by WebMediaBrands CEO Alan Meckler, and each episode will feature a different up-and-coming start-up. The start-ups will give Alan their elevator pitch and he will respond, offering each start-up advice on how to make it. New episodes of Elevator Pitch will premiere every other Thursday at lunchtime, starting on July 28.
