Online Video Startup Magisto Edits Your Video For You… On YouTube

By Megan O'Neill

Back in May we told you about a brand new online video startup called Magisto that turns your long, boring, unedited videos into share-worthy clips in a single click.  Earlier this week Magisto made its public debut and yesterday they integrated with YouTube Create, making their service available directly from YouTube.

According to the description on the Magisto YouTube Create page, “Magisto will automatically find the best parts of your movies, edit them together and create an amazing video you’ll be proud to post and share with everyone.”  To create a video, all you have to do is upload your video files (you can upload up to 16 video files and the more footage you give Magisto to work with, the better your video will turn out), add a title and then choose a soundtrack from Magisto’s library (or upload your own).  Then wait while Magisto does the work for you.

Check out the video I made with Magisto on YouTube Create below.  It’s a video of my dog, of course.

In addition to Magisto, YouTube Create also integrated vlix—a service that allows you to apply video effects and text to your videos.  You can frame your videos, reverse them, speed them up, give them a vintage look and more.  Find out more on the vlix YouTube Create page.

Magisto and vlix join a variety of other services on the YouTube Create page, including Xtranormal and GoAnimate, which let you make animated videos in minutes, Stupeflix, which lets you create slideshows of pictures, videos, maps, text and more, and One True Media, a simple video editing tool.

The addition of these new YouTube Create tools comes on the heels of YouTube’s launch of their new video editor, which lets YouTubers edit videos that they have already uploaded to YouTube without having to change the YouTube ID or URL.  YouTube is already the number one video sharing site and it looks like they are on the path to become the number one site for video creation as well.  I couldn’t be more excited to see what the future holds for video creation on YouTube.

Have you used any of the YouTube Create tools yet?  Let us know what you think of Magisto, vlix and all the other great video creation apps now available through YouTube!

Disclosure: I recently began working with Magisto on a freelance basis.
