Local TV Anchors Tweet Away

Michael Malone of Broadcasting & Cable examined the use of Twitter by anchors for local TV news and found that the 140-character social network is mostly accepted by the sector.

Amy Wood, anchor for Media General-owned WSPA-WYCW in Greenville-Spartanburg, S.C., has totaled 25,000 Tweets and more than 13,000 followers in her two-and-one-half years on Twitter, even receiving a direct message from the daughter of an employee being held hostage during a bank robbery, and she told B&C, “We wound up knowing it was over before anyone else did.
