Sheryl Sandberg’s Joins Tumblr

By Devon Glenn

What would you do if you weren’t afraid?

The women’s leadership community co-founded by Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg has joined the blogging site Tumblr, where the answers to that question are illustrated with pictures, videos, and animated GIFs. Visitors to the official Lean In Tumblr page will be greeted with the bullet-deflecting bracelets of Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman and a submission form to add their own voices.

Scrolling past the superheroes and Spice Girls, a few real women have already revealed their secret desires through video clips and photos. Some say they wish they had pursued passions like music and writing, while others just want to march into their manager’s office and ask for a raise.

The message is here is that for some women, pursuing a dream is not only easier said than done, it’s not even that easily said. In her book, Lean In: Women, Work and the Will to Lead, Sandberg asserts that women value being liked over being compensated at work, which often limits their opportunities.

On the Lean In Tumblr page is a submission form that  invites readers to answer: “What would you do if you weren’t afraid? Please tell us in a photo. Include your name, age and location, as well as anything else you want to tell us.”
