Laid Off Architect Finds Success Handmaking Kindle/iPad Covers

After being laid off from her job as a project architect, Minneapolis resident Angie Davis has found success making covers for iPads, iPhones, Kindles and MacBooks.

After losing her job in the fall of 2008, Davis started making these cases by hand from her home and selling them on Etsy under the brand Byrd & Belle. And business is booming. TwinCities.com reports: “Davis said she can’t keep up with demand for her gadget protectors, which are made out of fine wool and leather, and she’s often backed up two to four weeks with orders — her customers can see where they are in the queue via her website.”
