20 Kid-Friendly YouTube Channels That Moms Need To Know (+ 5 Channels for Moms)

A lot of my mommy friends have expressed frustration that there are no good lists of kid-friendly YouTube channels and playlists out there, so here at Social Times we've decided to compile one. I've put together a list of 20 great YouTube channels and playlists for kids that moms will love, based on recommendations from friends as well as my own love for children's television. Check out our 20 picks after the jump and stay tuned at the end for 5 fun YouTube channels geared towards moms as well! Sesame Street Sesame Street has been entertaining kids for over 40 years. It was my favorite show as a kid and it only continues to get better. Moms and dads, you don't have to wait for Sesame Street to come on TV for your kids to be entertained. The Sesame Street YouTube channel has all kinds of great, educational videos, some of them starring your favorite actors and musicians. Yo Gabba Gabba! Yo Gabba Gabba is my personal favorite pre-school show. The characters are awesome, it's got great music and it's educational to boot! Yo Gabba Gabba also features a lot of fun celebrity guest appearances and indie rock band cameos. Check out Angela Kinsey's guest appearance in the Back To School clip below. PBS The PBS YouTube channel offers a great PBS Kids playlist with all kinds of great shows, from Clifford the 'Big Red Dog' to Curious George', 'Sid The Science Kid', 'Super Why!' and more. You can find additional PBS shows on the channels PBS Kids Go! playlist. PBS has hours of kid-friendly content on YouTube to keep your kids entertained. They Might Be Giants Podcast For Kids I absolutely love the 'They Might Be Giants Podcast'. There isn't a YouTube channel, but all of the TMBG kids songs are compiled into a playlist that makes it easy to find and share these great videos with your kids. The songs are catchy and the visuals are amazing! Check out the TMBG song 'Never Go To Work' below and click here for the full playlist. Houston Zoo Do your kids love animals? Then they'll love the Houston Zoo YouTube channel. The Houston Zoo YouTube channel features all sorts of cool, educational animal videos. Which animal does your child like best? I'm a big fan of leaping lemurs. Check 'em out in the clip below. Simple Kids Crafts Want to do something creative with your kids? The Simple Kids Crafts YouTube channel offers tons of cool crafts ideas. They let you know what materials you need and then walk you through the crafting process. Check out the Simple Kids Crafts videos for inspiration or watch the videos with your kids and make crafts together. Cartoon Network The Cartoon Network YouTube channel is chock full of great cartoons for your kids to watch. They've got lots of excerpts from 'Adventure Time', 'Pokemon', 'Ben 10' and more. Embedding has been disabled for Cartoon Network videos, but you can check them all out on YouTube! Muppets Studio People of all ages love the Muppets, and while they may not be quite as educational as some of the other children's video content they are still really entertaining for kids. The Muppets Studio YouTube channel has all kinds of great Muppets music videos. The Muppets also just launched a new cooking show web series, which you and your kids are sure to love as well! Word World PBS If your kids are just starting to learn to read then the World World PBS YouTube channel is a great place to compliment what they are learning in school. Word World offers a great selection of videos about words and spelling. Check out the 'Dancing Dog' video below for a T-A-S-T-E of what the channel has to offer! Big Red Hat Kids Expose your kids to different places and cultures around the world, discover science and learn how to make cool projects with Big Red Hat Kids. The Big Red Hat Kids YouTube channel has three primary shows - the Traveling Trio travels around the world, Oliart shares fun art projects with your kids, and the Discovery Twins learn about science! There's no better way for kids to lean than from other kids. Watch as the Discovery Twins answer the question 'How Do We Smell?' in the clip below. Laurie Berkner Looking for some fun, educational music for your kids? Laurie Berkner has made a bunch of neat kids music videos, covering everything from the days of the week to dinosaurs, family and more. She doesn't have a YouTube channel, but you can check out a playlist of her songs here. Encourage your kids to dance and sing along with Laurie's 'We are the Dinosaurs' song below! Baby Einstein There has been some controversy about whether or not Baby Einstein is good for kids. I know moms and dads that swear by it, while others don't want their kids to watch. However, if you are into Baby Einstein then they've got a great YouTube channel with tons of musical clips for your little ones. Activity Village The Activity Village YouTube channel has some great how to videos as well as videos about all the different colors and some fun videos where your kids guess who's hiding behind different objects. Can your kids guess 'Who's behind the mask?' Hoopla Kids The Hoopla Kids YouTube channel is the place to go for nursery rhymes. From the 'Goose that Laid the Golden Egg' to 'Mary Had a Little Lamb', 'The Wheels On The Bus', 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star', 'Row Row Row Your Boat' and more, Hoopla Kids has a great selection of animations for little kids. The Wiggles The Australian children's musical group The Wiggles has a ton of videos on YouTube. While they don't have their own channel, you can watch their fun, colorful music videos with your kids in this Wiggles playlist. 4KidsTV Do your kids love Anime and shows like Yu-Gi-Oh! and Dinosaur King? The 4KidsTV YouTube channel offers a huge variety of anime and cartoons for your kids to enjoy. School House Rock Kids When I was little I used to love School House Rocks. Actually, I guess my love affair School House Rock never really ended, and I was so excited to discover that there is a School House Rock Kids YouTube channel. Your kids can watch all your favorite School House Rock songs, from Conjunction Junction to I'm Just a Bill and everything in between. AllTube4Kids One of the most exciting things for kids is seeing other kids doing fun stuff on YouTube. AllTube4Kids is a fun YouTube channel that offers a safe, fun place for parents and kids to share their own funny moments. Your kids will enjoy watching other kids' videos, inspired by everything from pop culture to everyday life, and may even be inspired to shoot and submit a video of their own! Seven Awesome Kids Seven Awesome Kids is another YouTube channel with content created for kids, by kids. It features kids from all over the world, talking about themselves and the things that are going on in their lives. It's fun for your kids to get a glimpse into the lives of other children and see how they are different and similar from their own lives. Arthur Arthur is one of the most popular kids shows and you and your kids can watch tons of Arthur episodes on the Arthur YouTube channel. The channel offers Arthur episodes, songs and more. On the next page you'll find five YouTube channels geared towards moms. Jenny On The Spot Jenny On The Spot is a mother of three who loves making YouTube videos. On her YouTube channel she shares everything from health tips to food and plain old fun. Jenny has a great personality and she shares a lot of fun stuff from her life with her viewers. Check out her most recent 'Foodie Friday' video below, in which she shows you how to cook spaghetti casserole. Charmed Valerie Charmed Valerie is another YouTube mom, but her focus is more on beauty, fashion, pop culture and social media. Check out her video about shoes to wear when you're not with your children. Date night anyone? Extraordinary Mommy Vlogger Danielle shares videos of her kids, interviews, advice and more on her YouTube channel Extraordinary Mommy. She set up an interview between her, her son and Goofy about their movie 'Choo Choo Express' back in 2009, which is so much fun! You can check it out below. My Mommy Manual The My Mommy Manual YouTube channel has all sorts of videos for moms, with tons of advice about pregnancy and mothering. In the video below, two moms give advice on how to help your kids organize their lockers. Martha Stewart I love Martha Stewart - she's got lots of great tips and projects for moms or anyone. On her YouTube channel you can find all sorts of fun ideas, behind the scenes footage and more. One of my favorite clips is of Martha making mashed potatoes with Snoop.
