After launching on Facebook and browser earlier this year, JumpStart and Dreamworks’ School of Dragons has come to iPad devices. The MMORPG is based on the world of How to Train Your Dragon, and sees players jumping into the shoes of an aspiring dragon trainer as they take classes and interact with both creative and educational content.
In School of Dragons, players adopt a dragon of their own, and are led through the storyline via quests, with plans to bring content from the second How to Train Your Dragon film into the game. Players spend their time learning everything they need to know about raising a dragon, with physical science, life science and earth and space science content also included, based on The Next Generation Science Standards.
Players may head to the lab to form hypotheses and run experiments, or they can travel back to their personal farm to do some farming or fishing. Players can feed their dragons to keep them happy and healthy, and can complete races with others, among other activities.
“The mobile component to School of Dragons is going to change the way people play online multiplayer games forever,” said David Lord, CEO of JumpStart, in a company statement. “As one of the first to bring a 3D MMORPG to the mobile platform, we are thrilled to provide fans and gamers with a way to experience the depth of School of Dragons on-the-go in this increasingly ‘mobile’ society.”
