You would think Facebook employees would want to get a good night’s sleep Thursday night, with the company’s long-awaited initial public offering set for Friday morning. But that wouldn’t fit with the social network’s hacker culture, now, would it? So, what’s the plan? Hackathon!

You would think Facebook employees would want to get a good night’s sleep Thursday night, with the company’s long-awaited initial public offering set for Friday morning. But that wouldn’t fit with the social network’s hacker culture, now, would it? So, what’s the plan? Hackathon!

TechCrunch reported that the social network’s employees will participate in an all-night hackathon on IPO eve, with one source saying:

We want to get everyone together and remind ourselves that this company is about building things.

Facebook also scheduled an internal event for Friday morning to coincide with Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg “ringing the bell” to launch trading on the Nasdaq exchange.
