With Facebook Timeline As A Script, Intel’s Me The Musical Makes You A Star

By Justin Lafferty

Want to star in a Broadway show, but afflicted by stage fright? Intel’s Me the Musical makes you the star of a production, and you don’t even have to leave your chair. The app uses information from your Facebook timeline to create a fun history of your life.

Me the Musical mines your Facebook profile, similar to Take This Lollipop (only with a much happier twist), to create a whimsical production highlighting your birth and events to happen throughout your life. This is the second such timeline-based app Intel has rolled out, the first being Museum of Me.

It starts off with a stork delivering the digital you. Your avatar, surrounded by friends, dances through the decades of your life and celebrates events such as college graduation and the creation of Facebook. The big finale occurs with your avatar standing on top of a birthday cake, as friends hold up signs announcing well wishes from your most recent birthday.

Paul McKeon, Intel Asia Pacific’s regional public relations manager, discussed the motivation behind Me the Musical in an email to AllFacebook:

Musical is designed, first and foremost, to entertain. But like any good musical, it has a message. It’s deliberately optimistic. At its heart, it is a celebration of shared experiences and of the things that unite us. A love of nostalgia, of storytelling, and music and dance are also common to many of the world’s cultures. It is an experience that is both general and very personal at the same. By including selected elements from your own personal Facebook profile, Me the Musical helps to show your life against a broader context of what was happening in the world at the time.
