Though Facebook’s purchase of photo application Instagram may not be final yet, Instragram has already been reaping the benefits of being associated with the social network. The app’s blog reported that Instagram now has 80 million users, with more than 4 billion photos shared.

PC World notes that Instagram started off with about 30 million users as an iPhone app before Facebook’s acquisition. The company has since made strides, adding an Android app that opened up the world of Instagram to millions of other smartphone users.

Instagram announced the news on its blog:

We’re excited to announce that the Instagram community has grown to over 80 million registered users who have shared nearly 4 billion photos! Since we launched Instagram in October 2010, we’ve expanded from one platform to two, bringing Instagram to Android users as well as iOS users.
