Immersion's Touch Vibration Technology Going into Future Nokia Touch Screen Phone

TheStreet.com reports that…

Nokia Win Gives Immersion Good Vibrations

Immersion Corp. has been around awhile – since 1993. You’ve probably used a product using their touch feedback vibration technology in a game controller without knowing it. I recall buying a Logitech I-Feel Mouse more than 10 years ago that used Immersion’s vibration technology. The mouse vibrated when moving over various screen objects like borders or a button.

If Nokia and Immersion can somehow localize vibration to specific parts of a touch screen, it would allow feedback on things like virtual keyboards that currently are nearly unusable to some people (like me) because of the lack of tactile feedback.
