“We want to empower developers, so rather than hope that other stimulus packages would prop them up, we decided to use a direct stimulus approach of our own,” said Ifbyphone CEO Irv Shapiro, referring to his company’s new economic stimulus package for iPhone application developers.
As if Apple’s iTunes App Store needs any more stimulation, developers who create the most innovative iPhone apps using the Ifbyphone iPhone template will get $1,000 to put towards full development of their Ifbyphone-to-iPhone mashup.
Ifbyphone will also release the winning products on the App Store.
The company, which specializes in online telephony applications offers two free iPhone apps of its own, a voice broadcasting utility that lets iPhone users schedule and deliver voice messages to multiple recipients and a conference-calling app that lets them initiate conference calls from their iPhone.
Ifbyphone is accepting applications for the contest through April 30. Full details and requirements are available here.
