Driving home from the airport this weekend, I saw a curious billboard advertising Hewlett Packard that said “Capture the power of a million tweets.” It was confusing. You’ll see why.
And as I sat there considering it, I neglected to grab my phone fast enough to snap a pic. But fortunately, someone else took a picture and shared it on Twitter. So I took HP’s advice and “captured the power of that tweet” to share the image with you here.
So here’s a screenshot of the billboard from a picture that someone else snapped:
So what does this mean? A million tweets draws a small, unenthusiastic crowd? This doesn’t look like a very powerful showing of . . . whatever it’s showing – does it?
Yes, a million tweets targeted toward some purpose would certainly be powerful – there’s no denying THAT, but I think my act of taking a screenshot of this pic was a more daring display of harnessing Twitter power than this image.
HP is quite active on Twitter, participating in and initiating hashtag conversations and contests, but seems to have really missed the mark on this one. What do you think?
