Today many good things are happening. To highlight work that increases peace, we organized "Peace Dot" and invited some partners to join us for the alpha launch in October 2009. The Peace Dot idea is simple: Orgs set up a subdomain at http://peace.[DomainName].com. At that page orgs share their work. At Stanford, we gather Peace Dot pages into a directory. Thanks to the Internet, Peace Dot is a systematic, global solution that makes it easier to share and connect. At Peace.CouchSurfing.org, you will find statistics about the number of individuals who met each other through CouchSurfing and became friends as a result. As of today, for example, 135,700 close friendships have been made through CouchSurfing. Below are some other positive statistics that show that there is still kindness and friendship in today's world. After all, the secret to world peace is getting to really know others who may be different from us - you wouldn't want to go to war with a good friend, would you?
