Hitwise Mobile Debuts; Facebook Places Third In Market Share, Average Time Spent

Facebook was the No. 3 mobile website both in terms of market share of visits and average time spent during the week ending Feb. 23, in the debut of Hitwise Mobile from Experian Marketing Services.

Google dominated the market-share rankings, pulling in 17.27 percent of visits, followed by Google-owned video-sharing site YouTube at 4.55 percent, and Facebook at 2.65 percent.

The order was unchanged among the top three sites in terms of average time spent.

Experian Marketing Services said in its announcement about the launch of Hitwise Mobile:

The mobile data are based on a sample from 3G/4G and Wi-Fi sources including both smartphones and tablets providing data on mobile Internet activity.
