GREE Partners with MakeSchool to Help Kids Develop Mobile Games

Mobile social game company GREE has announced its partnership with MakeSchool, a San Francisco-based computer science and software development school. This partnership with see engineers from GREE’s Tokyo and San Francisco offices working with MakeSchool to develop the curriculum offered to students interested in learning to develop mobile games. As part of this program, students will work to create fully functional mobile games for release on the market.

The first program using this new curriculum will run for approximately eight weeks in Cocos2D-swift/Cocos2D-x, and will see the students planning, developing and releasing a mobile game by the end of the program.

In a statement, Naoki Aoyagi, senior vice president of GREE (pictured, far right), commented on the partnership:

GREE is passionate about mobile games and committed to making an investment in the people who will be making them. Working with MakeSchool allows us to use GREE’s expertise in mobile game development and the experience of our talented engineers to build great practical learning experiences for students that they will be able to apply immediately and on-the-job.

GREE is behind many popular mobile games, including Batman & The Flash: Hero Run and Pac-Man Monsters. The company has studios in Tokyo, San Francisco, Vancouver and Seoul, and specializes in the development of free-to-play games for the mid-core and hardcore gaming markets.
