Grand Marnier Replants Grand Giving Tree Facebook App

By David Cohen

Spirit brand Grand Marnier is marking the season of giving with its second annual Grand Giving Tree Facebook application, which allows users of the social network to choose between three charitable organizations by selecting ornaments that represent the charities and placing them on the virtual Grand Giving Tree.

The House of Marnier-Lapostolle’s flagship brand said that the organization with the most ornaments on Dec. 31 will receive $20,000, and the other two will get $5,000 apiece. Users of the Grand Giving Tree will also be eligible to win $1,000.

The three charities in the 2012 edition of the Grand Giving Tree are:

  • Best Friends Animal Society, a national animal welfare organization building no-kill programs and partnerships aimed at reaching a day when there are no more homeless pets.
  • Earth Day Network, the global coordinator of Earth Day, the only event observed simultaneously by people of all backgrounds, faiths and nationalities.
  • Surfrider Foundation, a nonprofit grassroots organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of our world’s oceans, waves and beaches through a powerful activist network.
