Google appears poised to launch a Web app in Drive that would compete with Evernote as an online note-taking service.

Android Police spotted the app in Drive’s source code. Keep was live briefly, though not connected to the Drive menu. It has since been pulled.

The app, called Keep, lets users create, search and archive notes and checklists. The notes can be tagged with various colors. It is similar to Google’s defunct Notebook application.

According to Android Police, “Keep will be able to save website snippets directly from a Google Search.”
