Google Maps Street View just got a lot more awesome (if that’s possible!) with the addition of new imagery that lets you explore six of the world’s most incredible underwater spots. Head over to maps.google.com/ocean to take a breathtaking virtual underwater tour of coral reefs in Australia, the Philippines and Hawaii.
The underwater Street View collection was created in collaboration with The Catlin Seaview Survey, an organization that is working to record and reveal the world’s oceans and reefs like never before, in high-res, 360 degree panoramic vision.
Currently you can use Google Street View to explore Heron Island, Lady Elliot Island and Wilson Island in the Great Barrier Reef, Australia, Molokini Crater and Hanauma Bay in Hawaii, and the Apo Islands in the Philippines.
If you can’t get to Hawaii, Australia or the Philippines yourself, Street View is a pretty sweet way to explore the amazing scenery and underwater life. Check out the video below and let us know what you think.
