Google Maps for Android 5.0: 3D Buildings, Navigation When You Lose Net Connection

Google Maps for Android received a big upgrade this week and a new round version number: 5.0.

Maps can now be displayed in three-quarter view with 3D buildings displayed. This feature includes tilt control (drag down with two fingers), map rotation, and a compass mode to center the map.

Maps are now also cached to let it keep working when you are out of range of 3G or WiFi.
