Google Launches PhotoScan App on iOS, Android

The app was designed to help users quickly scan real-world photographs and create digital copies of them that can be stored online.

Google announced the release of PhotoScan, a mobile application designed to help users quickly scan real-world photographs and create digital copies of them that can be stored online.

With the PhotoScan app, a user can position their device over a real-world photograph so that the entire photograph is visible within the frame in the app. From there, they can tap the capture button to cause four dots to appear in the environment through augmented reality. The app then asks the user to move their device so that another circle on the screen will line up with each of the four circles.

Once this step is complete, the app will process the image and provide the user with a digital version of the photograph that they can store and share.
