Google Insights for Search Shows Facebook's Regional Popularity

Google launched a new service for marketers today called Insights for Search. It’s basically a powerful spinoff of Google Trends, and shows search volume patterns across different regions, time frames, and categories.

Using Insights for Search gives more data on search volume for “Facebook” across different geographies and times, which is arguably a good indicator of relative engagement and growth. Here’s what Google’s data shows:

1. Search volume over time – searches for Facebook more than doubled in 2007, and have already doubled in 2008 YTD again.
