Google Buys The Dealmap to Bolster Google Offers

Google will add The Dealmap to its commerce teams with plans to move the company's employees to its headquarters in Mountain View, California. I don’t think there are any surprises about the acquisition. We all knew Google wanted to bolster their efforts in the local daily deals market. It was only a matter of time and finding the right platform to get the idea in motion.

Google bought The Dealmap, a platform that collects and promotes daily deals in local markets. “We are impressed with what The Dealmap team has accomplished and excited to welcome them to Google,” according to a Google statement. “We’ve been thrilled with the early success of our commerce offerings, and we think they can help us build even better products and services for consumers and merchants.”

Since May 2010, The Dealmap has accumulated more than 2 million users with its mobile, Web, social and e-mail products.
