Google has announced a new tool for watching your traffic unfold in real-time in Google Analytics. Events, which show individual actions that affect traffic, like a Facebook referral or pageviews on a mobile phone or tablet versus the web, can now be filtered out and monitored in real time using Google's Real-Time Events Report. Google has announced a new tool for watching your traffic unfold in real-time in Google Analytics.
Events, which show individual actions that affect traffic, like a Facebook referral or pageviews on a mobile phone or tablet versus the web, can now be filtered out and monitored in real time using Google’s Real-Time Events Report. (See below.)
Web traffic fluctuates, so the idea is to give website administrators a way to act on trends, such as an especially popular link or a sudden rush of activity from a particular social network.
With this tool, they can also see the real-time traffic broken down by desktop, tablet, and mobile, which may help detect bugs if the ratios look unusual.
