GetTaxi, Car Service App, Raises $20 Million

GetTaxi, an app designed so that people can book taxis via their phones, has raised $20 million. The funding, which is a second round of investment from global investment firm Len Blavatnik’s Access Industries, comes as the company launches in New York, its first parlay into the U.S. market after releasing its app in the UK, Russia and Israel.

The app lets users order taxis, which are equipped with a dedicated “plug-and-ride” driver unit, connecting customers and taxis based on location services technology.
