Get Your Game Exposed to 90M+ Users With Yahoo! Mobage

Social gaming giant DeNA announced a partnership with Yahoo! Japan back in April to leverage Yahoo! Japan's dominant portal posit to extend its business models beyond the mobile-gaming frontier to PC-based social gaming. Dubbed Yahoo! Mobage, the platform is soon opening up to entrants and will provide services including translation, hosting and monetization resources. With access to 90 million users, who wouldn't be interested in porting their game to Yahoo! Mobage? Read more after the jump. DeNA is inviting all American developers to use Yahoo Mobage. Both PC and mobile developers can benefit using Yahoo Mobage's structure that allows cross-platform gaming between PC and mobile portals. DeNA has 20 million users and Yahoo has 52 million monthly active users, bringing the combined total to 90 million Japanese internet users that Yahoo Mobage provides access to. "The amount of money to be made in Japanese social gaming is astronomical," says DeNA's CEO, Tomoko Namba. "By offering this platform and providing tools to help ease the transition, DeNA hopes to be American game developers' portal to the East." Previously we covered DeNA's announcement of a social gaming fund called Incubate Fund No.1 that it would use for strategic investments in promising start-ups. It is important for the larger companies to support a climate of innovation, especially if in turn benefits them. Similar things are happening in other parts of the social industry like Facebook and Y-Combinator working together to fund promising up-starts. DeNA has released some metrics that are worth looking at for those considering the leap to the east. The most notable of those metrics is that Japanese ARPU for virtual goods is 4X America's ARPU ($4 vs $1) and the top developers are currently making $1 million a month on Yahoo! Mobage. The specifics of DeNA's value added services are: Localization: DeNA is partnering with four companies doing game translation and testing, preparing games with a turnaround time of a month on average. Hosting: For developers interested in hosting in Japan, DeNA has also partnered with the leading Japanese hosting service provider, IDC Frontier. Payments: DeNA does money transfers through international banks. They will also assist in creating Japanese bank accounts for interested developers. The platform has already raised significant interest in the developer community and is attracting developers from Japan, China, South East Asia and US.
