Goodbye Charlie! Gangnam Style Now The Most Popular Non-VEVO Video On YouTube

By Megan O'Neill

It’s only been three months since Gangnam Style first graced the Internet with its presence and in that time it has become one of the fastest growing hit songs, memes and YouTube videos the world has ever seen.   With nearly 500 million views,  a whole slew of parodies and even a Guinness World Record under its belt, there’s no denying that Psy’s  video is on its way to becoming the most-viewed video of all time.

I’ve been keeping my eye on the YouTube Charts for the past week or so now.  For a few days, Gangnam Style has been trailing Charlie Bit My Finger, the most popular non-VEVO YouTube video.  This morning, I checked the charts to find that not only had Gangnam Style surpassed Charlie, but had also surpassed LMFAO’s Party Rock Anthem and Shakira’s Waka Waka to become the fourth most-viewed video of all time!

Currently, Psy is fourth only to three VEVO music videos– Justin Bieber’s baby, with 790 million views, Jennifer Lopez’s On The Floor, with 609 million views, and Eminem’s Love The Way You Lie, with 505 million views.  It may seem like it will take a lot for the video to overtake Justin Bieber, but keep in mind that Baby has been racking up views since 2010 and Psy only hit the streams 3 months ago.

Now let’s celebrate with a little Gangnam Style!
