Gameloft and Marvel have announced the development of the official mobile game for Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The game’s launch will coincide with the film’s release later this Spring, and will see players taking on the role of Captain America as they do battle with famous Marvel villains.
The storyline for Captain America: The Winter Soldier on mobile was co-written by a Marvel writer, and is inspired by the film, with appearances from characters from both the movie and the original comic books. Players will lead Captain America and a team of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents into battle in team-based combat.
In addition to the base storyline, players will be able to join clans in the game’s multiplayer mode, competing with their friends for a higher position within leagues.
“Marvel has been a longtime partner of ours, and we are once again happy to transform one of their blockbuster films into an immersive action game,” said Karine Kaiser, VP of Marketing and Licensing at Gameloft. “Players can expect a truly involved Captain America experience, with many characters from both the movie and the comics.”
Captain America: The Winter Soldier is set to release on iOS and Android in late March. The film will release on March 26 in certain European countries, and April 4 in the US.
