Taking a break from its popular line of hidden object and city-building games, mobile and social game company Game Insight has announced the development of Transport Empire for iOS and Android. The game will come first to iPad, and will take players to a Victorian Era of design, as they build a railroad network, steamboats, airships, mines, roads and more to develop frontier cities.
In Transport Empire, players will need to monitor the building of large transportation networks, connecting multiple towns with railway lines as they interact with a cast of unique characters, each with their own story for players to discover.
The game is described as an “economic strategy” experience, as players will not only build their own cities and complete quests, but will need to do so fast enough to stay ahead of their competitors.
As players build their transportation networks and cities, they’ll eventually unlock the mystery of a “legendary phantom train,” and will be able to construct trains piece by piece, using the resources they’ve collected. Different train cars offer different ratings, while timed shifts will see players sending trains out to complete tasks automatically over varying lengths of time.
“We’re excited to announce Transport Empire, which brings a fresh new take on strategy gaming to the traditionally casual market of business games and city building games,” said Sarah Teng, Director of Marketing and Public Relations at Game Insight North America.
“We’ve seen a growing demand from the market for deeper, more complex game experiences in mobile, and we’re delighted to meet this demand by offering players both in-depth economic management gameplay mechanics and an engrossing storyline that will excite both core and casual audiences.”
