Furnish Your Home Virtually With IKEA's New App

Trying to imagine how an Ektorp couch will look in your living room can be hard with just a tape measure and a photo. IKEA is trying to make this easier by releasing an app that lets you place furniture in your living room virtually to get a picture of how the piece will fit into your home.

The retailer has created this app to support is 2014 catalog launch. The app, which is available for iOS and Android, uses augmented reality to place the furniture in your room by using your phone’s camera and then adding the item to your room.
